traveling to europe, have some general questions.?
So im doing this trip alone, and i would rather not join a tour group or cruise or anything. And i am planning to go either in March or September of '09. Ive been to Paris, but as a teen so im a bit travel savy for France.
The places I wanted to visit are:
France-(Paris)
Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, the Lourve, Versailles, Moulin Rouge and the Bastille
Italy-(Rome, Florence, Venice)
the Vatican, St. peters, Sistine Chapel, the Parthenon, the Colosseun, Trevi Fount., Grand Canal
Greece-
Santorini island, specifically Oia.
So i was wondering if anybody knew if any of the places i listed are for groups only, i hear stories about the sistine chapel, but im not positive.
also i was looking to do this trip in under two weeks, i dont want to rush the expirence, but i dont like crowds, and i dont want to be sitting around.
think its possible?
thanks for any info you can give!
I think you have too much in mind for two weeks. Italy alone can be a two week trip. Why not leave out Greece this time? You can easily fly into Paris, take a train to Milan or Rome, take trains around Italy, and fly back from Rome or Milan. Versailles is an easy day trip from Paris. You could even make a one day stopover in Geneva.
Groups get into the Sistine Chapel a little quicker, I believe, but there will be a line even for groups, and you have to get there early--about an hour before opening. Tickets for the art museum in Florence should be pre-purchased but still be prepared to wait in line.
