Un des plus beaux villages de France, how Les Baux de Provence hits her chest. Without doubt, this is an extraordinary place. Down on a rocky spur, Citadel oversees some staggeringly beautiful village dominated by vineyards and rocky mountains. This is the heart of the Chaine des Alpilles. The old village was included in the Maison du Roy, which houses the tourist board. Nearby is a very colorful candy store. Two roads lead at the entrance of the castle and St Vincent Place to the church and church repenting. The best view you get is after the Rue de l'Orme at Le Prince Noir B & B.
On my way to the town of Arles I spent some interesting points that are worth a stop short. First, a little south of Fontvieille is Daudet's windmill.
This is the setting of the writer Letters from my windmill, Provencal life stories. Of course, living in the Netherlands, it takes more than a helicopter little to impress me ... Two km to the south are the remains of a Roman aqueduct. You can walk on their feet without getting wet. Head west and just prior to Arles lies in a sufficiently, the ruined abbey complex Montmajour a massive country, destroyed by fire in 1726 and never restored. Roughly, it exists of three parts: a strong dungeon (view wonderful from above), had the chapel and crypt, cloister and cellier.
In Arles I stayed in a hotel Ibis nicest in France. (Gadio Rue Gerard). It has a large pool in the garden and a cozy bar. See my review. But Van Gogh's Arles. In 15 months I have stayed here, he produced over 300 paintings. It is famous Cafe du Soir. Original bar in Place du Forum has been renovated to see how the painting. A monument dedicated to Vincent, his head on a rock, whatever stands in the Jardin d'. Not to be missed in Arles is Les arena, amphitheater. It was the largest buildings in Roman Gaul. Today it is used for bullfights. On the other Bornier other country is the Roman Theatre Antique. Do not forget to visit the cloisters of Saint-Trophime.
